What are we fundraising for?
New marching band uniforms! Our marching band has not replaced its uniforms since the 2013 school year. Our uniforms are starting to show signs of wear, and are falling behind current uniform standards in the modern marching scene.
How much are new uniforms?
Very expensive! $45,336.38 to be exact. We are lucky to receive $25,000 from Durham Public Schools, which is allotted to us on a cycle split between all of the other high schools in DPS. This year is our year to spend that money! That means we have to fundraise the other half, which is $20,335.38.
Why are new uniforms so important?
Because they are the face of our organization when we represent the school, district, and City of Durham! The Jordan Regiment is highly competitive, and has achieved success at some of the highest levels across our state. It has a long history as one of the most successful performing arts organizations in Durham Public Schools. Our talented and hardworking students deserve to feel like they are fit for the job when representing us amongst other schools and in the community.
What do the new uniforms look like?
What inspired the design?
We were inspired by key design elements from our school and program history. We incorporated our school colors, and well and the "Jordan Stripe" as the striking main feature which has become associated with the group. We also added elements of modern design, like incorporating a feather into the plume on the shako (hat) and a mirror for added visual effect. The uniforms were designed by Stanbury Uniforms, Inc. to be high quality and functional.
