Music education is necessary for a well-rounded education. It is innately valuable due to its ability to develop reasoning and cognition, memorization, form important emotional and cultural bonds, and teach discipline. Music students use teamwork and collaboration to create music within the school, community, and larger area. They are consistently engaged in learning, and are encouraged to take responsible risks. Music education develops students’ character by increasing their self-efficacy and leadership potential. All of these traits are essential to developing capable lifelong learners regardless of intended career path, race, gender, or creed. “Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education.” - Plato |
